Harley Stenzel
HARLEY STENZEL
Harley Stenzel is a doctoral student on internship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Mental Health Services. Her research interests that include qualitative work with LGBTQ+ people, and specifically in identity development within bisexual college students. An additional interest is the impact of group membership acceptance/rejection on self-perception. She has previously done work with Dr. McCabe surrounding the impact acculturation/acculturative stress has on substance use behaviors in adult Latine immigrants.
Shirnelle Wilks
SHIRNELLE WILKS
Shirnelle Wilks is a doctoral student on internship at the University of Miami Counseling Center. Her research interests focus on the relationship between acculturation and mental health in immigrant and ethnically diverse communities. She is especially interested in the Black immigrant population and examining acculturation, socialization, and identity development for this group. She has collaborated on projects on multidimensional acculturation and smoking in Latine immigrants and currently engages in research projects that examine the acculturation and socialization of Black African immigrants. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York and identifies as a second-generation Jamaican immigrant.
Candace McConaha
CANDACE MCCONAHA
Candace McConaha is a PhD student on internship at Ohio State University Counseling and Consultation Service. She is interested in researching mental health factors that interact with substance use and its resulting consequences in young adults. Most recently her work has focused on the interaction between substance use and factors like social norms, anxiety, depression, and stress.
Stephanie Gonzalez-Galvan
STEPHANIE GONZALEZ-GALVAN
Stephanie Gonzalez-Galvan is a First-Generation Latina working in her fourth year in the Counseling Psychology Program. Her research interests focus on First-Generation Latine College Students, Latine Families and Adolescents, and Educational Outcomes. Stephanie is currently working on a qualitative study of First-Generation Latine College Students and their campus integration experiences. She is also actively working to help Auburn’s Latine population navigate their college experiences in a Predominately White Institution (PWI) while maintaining their identities.
Courtney H. Williams
COURTNEY H. WILLIAMS
Courtney H. Williams is a 4th year student pursuing a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology. Her interests include researching mechanisms that improve health disparities in maternal and reproductive health for Black indigenous people of color (BIPOC) birthing persons. Additionally, she is interested in interdisciplinary and integrated approaches to training and care to improve patient care experiences.
Olivia Kudick
OLIVIA KUDICK
Olivia Kudick is a 3rd year student in the Counseling Psychology program. Although her research interests are still developing, they currently include childhood trauma, substance use, well-being, and the Hispanic/Latino populations. Her clinical experiences and interests involve working with individuals who have experienced trauma and/or have substance use disorders, more specifically children, adolescents, and young adults. Her partner and Olivia have a two-year-old dog named Lola. They enjoy spending time outside, trying new restaurants, and visiting their home state of Wisconsin!
Julia Cantu
JULIA CANTU
Julia Cantu is a 3rd year Counseling Psychology PhD student. Her research interests include the Hispanic/Latino population, adverse childhood experiences, trauma, resilience, acculturation, and the clinical application of counseling techniques and theories. Her clinical experience includes working with children/adolescents and family systems with a wide range of diagnoses and behavioral concerns. Julia has two pets: a Bengal cat, Koba, and a Pit Bull, Khaleesi. She enjoys nature walks and exploring new places with friends.
Danny Dore
DANNY DORE
Danny Dore is a 1st year Counseling Psychology PhD student. Her research interests include psychological preventative measures and interventions for the African Americans and Hispanics/Latinos. Apart from academia, she enjoys cosmetics, such as doing makeup and hair, as well as reading books.
