If you have a bachelor’s in agriculture or related field and want to teach, you’ll want to look at our Alternative Certification M.Ed. This master’s degree leads to recommendation for Class A Alabama professional educator certification.

Courses in this program are offered on campus and online. 

Coursework — 30-33 hours

  • Teaching Field* — 12 hours

  • Professional Studies* — 18 to 21 hours

* Undergraduate courses may be required by your advisory committee for your plan of study. This coursework is in addition to the total hours noted above and must be completed prior to Clinical Residency.

M.Ed. Degree Overview

* RSED 6000/6006 Advanced Survey of Exceptionality is required if a survey of special education course was not previously completed.

M.S. Degree Overview

The M.S. non-certification program provides an interdisciplinary graduate-level education for community-based or international educators who do not wish to gain teacher certification/licensure in the United States. This master’s degree does not lead to professional educator certification.

  • Advisor-approved Electives — 15 hours
