Short Bio
Dr. Andrew Pendola is a faculty member in the Educational Leadership program in the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology. His research focuses on the intersection of educator labor markets, school policy, finance, and equity. Specifically, he examines large scale patterns of recruitment and retention to address issues surrounding effective placement, workplace satisfaction, and educator shortages. He currently teaches graduate courses on school law, budgeting, politics, and leadership ethics.
Engagement
Dr. Pendola’s work on educator recruitment and retention has been featured in numerous outlets including the Scholars Strategy Network, the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. In 2022, Dr. Pendola was awarded the College of Education Outstanding Faculty Award for Outreach for his work on improving inclusion, efficacy, and belongingness for graduate students through QMER.
