Pre-Award Services

The Office of Research and Innovation offers several pre-award services, designed to support researchers' success in obtaining external research funding. Pre-award services include:
  • Assistance in identifying funding opportunities;
  • Review of Request for Proposals (RFPs) to assist in effective proposal development;
  • Help with identification of potential partners with needed expertise;
  • Support in budget development including help budget justification; guidance on compliance with regulations; and provision of current information on salaries, benefits, tuition, and travel costs.
  • Consultation on sponsor and university proposal form preparation and formatting;
  • Collection of boilerplates and templates for proposals (see Sharepoint);
  • Coordination with partner organizations related to subaward documentation;
  • Assistance with obtaining letters of support or commitment;
  • Electronic submission on sponsor websites; and
  • Presentations to new facutly and other researchers

Post-Award Services

Research Management provides financial and administrative assistance to faculty and staff from the point of initial award of a sponsored project through the life of the project. It also provides financial and administrative guidance to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, university and sponsor regulations specific to each project awarded to the College.
The following functions are included as Research Management:
  • New Award Meetings
  • Guidance of Federal, State, University, and Sponsor regulations and requirements.
  • Pre-Audit and approval of expenditures
  • Release Time and Summer Salary
  • Project Budget development, analysis, and projections.
  • Budget revisions
  • No-Cost Extension requests
  • Subcontract agreement and modification requests
  • Cost Sharing Commitments including documenting and reporting these commitments.
  • Project Close Out
