Impact Beyond Auburn's Campus
Outreach is fundamental to Auburn University's land-grant mission, and in the College of Education we work to improve the futures of citizens in Alabama, the Southeast region, the nation, and the global community. By engaging with our communities in impactful activities, we are committed to building a better future for all.
Our Outreach Stories
At GEAR UP Achieve's annual residential summer camp, rising 10th-grade students lived like college students for a week on the Auburn University campus.
When Kathryn Conradson stepped into her first principalship at Reeltown Elementary School, she brought with her four degrees from Auburn's College of Education and a passion for educational leadership. But she also gained something equally important — a trusted mentor through Alabama's New Principal Mentoring Program, co-created by Auburn College of Education Professor Ellen Hahn.
Auburn's College of Education has opened the door for candid discussion around mental health in rural Alabama, offering a series that brought Tallapoosa County residents, community leaders and university partners together for months of conversation, connection and practical guidance at Central Alabama Community College.
In the Locomotor and Movement Control Lab housed in Auburn University's School of Kinesiology, one statement guides much of the research and outreach performed by students: “Movement is our birthright, and it is our job to maintain it.” Bria Smith, a doctoral student in the lab, recently hosted a free webinar with Auburn's Office of Professional and Continuing Education to share information on movement and healthy aging.
