Short Bio
Dr. Jamie Harrison is an associate professor of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching. Her primary research interests center on the role of advocacy in the work of ESOL teachers. She has also conducted research about teachers’ implicit and explicit beliefs and attitudes about multilingual learners. Dr. Harrison teaches several courses in the graduate ESOL education program and is currently acting as the program coordinator.
Professional & Educational Experience
Dr. Harrison received her B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Eastern Nazarene College, and she holds an an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Surrey and an Ed.D. in School Improvement from the University of West Georgia. Prior to coming to Auburn, she was a K 12 educator with over 20 years of English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) teaching experience in Georgia, Florida, and South Korea. She continues to teach ESL as part of her outreach initiatives for the university.
