Short Bio
Dr. Murrah's research focuses on the development of cognitive and motor skills needed. Most of his work is using longitudinal data to identify which skills students need to do succeed throughout school and later in life. He also explores the importance of out-of-school programs, both formal and informal, with the goal of informing intervention within these settings.
Professional Experience
Dr. Murrah graduated with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia. He work there as a post doctoral fellow and a research scientist, where he specialized in research design and methods. Before graduate school he worked as a counselor in several academic and clinical settings, including alternative schools, and substance abuse clinics.
Engagement
Dr. Murrah co-founded and develops the Quantitative Methods in Educational Research (QMER), aub.ie/qer) learning community, which supports graduate students by provided skill and resources not provided in the standard curriculum. He also maintains a website that provides research methods resources (www.statistical-thinking.com).
