Short Bio
Victoria Cardullo, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Auburn University in the Elementary Education Program. She has focused on elementary education, specifically reading and literacy. Cardullo is the past chair of the American Reading Forum (2017-2019) and received the Gary Moorman Early Career Literacy Scholar Award in 2017. A former classroom teacher, she received her BS in Elementary Education, her M.Ed. in Reading, and her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading from the University of Central Florida. Her research interest and outreach are focused on teacher disposition and the integration of ubiquitous teaching and teacher disposition related to digital literacy. Her current scholarly work has focused on the following: The disposition of the classroom teacher, the metacognitive knowledge that a teacher holds, and the strategies students use to read both print and digital text. Across several studies, she has explored metacognitive strategies individuals use as they read digitally. In addition, she developed and validated the i-MARSI, a Metacognitive Awareness Reading Strategy Inventory for digital devices. Publications resulting from her research agenda appear in the Journal of Research in Reading, the Journal of Reading Education, and a collaborative piece in the Journal of International Studies. Dr. Cardullo grew up in a small town in New Jersey, married, and moved to Florida to raise two children. After 30 years in Florida, she moved to Auburn to continue her journey in higher education. She enjoys traveling, visiting friends and family, and can often be found hiking.
