Short Bio
Michelle Denney joined the Truman Pierce Institute after 24 rewarding years teaching preschool, fifth grade, and middle school math/science. She served as curriculum advisor/developer, mentor teacher, and Process Champion for Capturing Kids’ Hearts, a comprehensive SEL program focused on improving school culture. As professional development manager for the Alabama Afterschool Quality Standards Project, she promotes continuous quality improvement for afterschool and childcare programs and supports educators by developing/presenting interactive sessions on social emotional learning, student engagement, STEM, and more. She earned a bachelor's in Mathematics from Auburn University and a master's in Elementary Education from the University of Montevallo.
