Short Bio

Melanie Haigood, PT, MS, PCS is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy with 28 years of experience serving children and families in Early Intervention, school-based, and private practice settings. She has been a Board-certified clinical specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 2014. She anticipates completion of her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2027. Clinical interests include Functional Electrical Stimulation in pediatric rehabilitation, serial casting, and conservative management of equinus deformities in children. She believes inter-professional collaboration and communication with families is imperative to promote meaningful participation and independence for children. As an adjunct faculty member, Melanie brings nearly three decades of real-world pediatric clinical experience to the classroom. She is passionate about helping the next generation of physical therapists connect foundational knowledge, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice to meet the unique needs of children and their families.
