Short Bio
Dr. Christopher Wilburn is Biomechanics faculty member within the School of Kinesiology. While Dr. Wilburn is the primary instructor for all undergraduate biomechanics courses, he also obtains a research line investigating the influence footwear, socks, and foot architecture have on lower extremity gait mechanics.
Professional Experience
Prior to obtaining his master’s and PhD, the New York native attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education. Outside of the classroom and laboratory, Dr. Christopher Wilburn acts as a major advocate for social justice, diversity, and inclusive initiatives. Specifically, Dr. Wilburn is an academic liaison between Auburn University and their Historically Black Colleges and Universities partners, member of the American Society of Biomechanics Diversity Committee, member and outreach co-leader for the Black Biomechanists Association, member and social media team member for the Latinx in Biomechanics Group, and ally to the International Women in Biomechanics Group.
