About
Auburn’s Agricultural Education, Leadership, & Communications (AELC) is hosting a professional workshop for agriscience educators on June 29, 2026, from 8am to 4pm. The workshop is geared only for agriscience educators and aims to provide skills and materials to assist teachers in an Agricultural Mechanic’s classroom.
This workshop will review several instructions for building a picnic table and tailor them to an introductory level so that a student can follow the steps. After reviewing the instructions, participants will construct their own picnic table. Participants should bring their own tape measure and safety glasses. Agriscience educators will receive PD credit for attending this event. Participants will be entered into a raffle for the chance to take home a picnic table.
AELC's longstanding goal is to partner with agriscience educators to best serve their needs in and outside of the classroom.
The Ag Construction PD: Picnic Tables workshop is designed to strengthen relationships and build community among Alabama agriscience educators. Our hope is that, by offering professional workshops, educators can deepen their understanding and apply the knowledge to better serve their students. While agriculture is a growing field, many Alabama educators instill in youth the importance of agriculture in our society.
The deadline to register is June 5, 2026. Due to limited space at the Bottoms STEAM Lab, the first 12 respondents will be accepted, and any additional respondents will be placed on a waitlist.
