Traditional Masters Admission Requirements for Certification

  • Valid Teaching Certificate in Appropriate Field

  • Clear Background Check [Updated March 2023]

    • Each applicant will need the following to complete the Background Check Registration process successfully:

      • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access

      • A valid email account that can be access in the future after graduating

      • Established AIM account (see document below regarding how to register for an AIM account)

      • Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) ID#

      • Pay the $46.20 fee by debit card, credit card, or PayPal account (Prepaid debit cards or credit cards are acceptable.)

      • Ability to provide their commonly known personal information (e.g. SSN, DOB, DL#, Height, Weight, etc.)

    • Use this required sequence to complete the Background Check Registration process successfully:

  • Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Supplement Experience Form (PDF) for the following programs only:

    • Instructional Leadership

    • Reading Education

Alternative Masters Admission Requirements

  • Minimum GPA 2.75 (Undergraduate) or Minimum GPA 3.00 (Graduate)

    • Must be your degree granting GPA

  • Clear Background Check

    • Alabama residents select “Registration” procedures

    • Out-of-state residents select “Fingerprint Cards – Out of State only”

  • Praxis (required if you do not have valid State of Alabama teaching certificate)

    • Go to Alabama Educator Preparation Program Approach; scroll to Tests Required for All Teaching Fields; click on “+” next to Program Entry

    • Submit electronic score report from ETS to Auburn University (1005) and the Alabama State Department of Education (7020)
