Application

  • Complete the Graduate School application and list ALL undergraduate and graduate institutions you have previously attended including Auburn University.

  • Include email addresses for 3 references. Each will receive an email to complete an electronic reference form and letter.

  • Pay the graduate application fee (see Graduate School Admissions Requirements)

  • Contact the Graduate School at (334) 844-4700 for paper application options.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

  • These programs are currently waiving the GRE for admission:

    • Agriscience Education, Business/Marketing, Career & Technical Education, Early Childhood, Elementary, English Language Arts, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Foreign Language Education, Mathematics Education, Music Education, and Social Science/History Education.

  • The following programs require the GRE for admission:

    • Reading Education requires the GRE except in individual cases where an applicant’s transcript demonstrates past graduate study success.

    • Science Education requires the GRE.

  • If you need to take the GRE, use the GRE Website to register for the test and send your scores to Auburn University. Use Code: #1005.

Transcripts

  • Degree-seeking students must have official transcripts sent directly from ALL previously attended institutions.

  • Non-degree seeking and graduate certificate applicants must send official transcripts from the most recent institution attended.

  • Domestic (USA) transcripts:

    • Official transcripts should be sent to the Graduate School using the following address: The Graduate School, 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn, AL  36849-5122

    • Official electronic transcripts from domestic institutions may be sent to graduatetranscripts@auburn.edu

  • International (Non-USA) transcripts:

    • All official international transcripts should be sent in the original language accompanied by a certified English translation of each document. Contact the graduate school at (334) 844-4700 with questions.

    • If seeking certification, all official international transcripts ALSO require a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services (wes.org).

Clear Background Check

  • All degree and certificate programs require a clear background check before your first semester begins.

  • Alabama teachers who have completed this can find their results through the Tcert portal.

  • All others will use Fieldprint ®  for background checks.

Additional Admissions Requirements

ALL Applicants

  • In your online application, upload:

    • Your current résumé or curriculum vitae.

    • Statement of Intent (300-500 words describing your professional interests and goals)

    • Unofficial transcripts from ALL previously attended institutions (including Auburn University) and be sure they are listed in your application materials.

Alternative Masters Degree (ALT M.ED.) Applicants

  • 2.50 GPA is required for admission from an accredited institution. Individuals with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.49 may apply for consideration by meeting the Alternative Praxis II score in the area of specialization.

  • Assessment/Testing Requirements

    • Varies by Program area — please contact the program coordinator in the area of specialization.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. **

Masters Degree (M.ED.) Applicants

  • Valid Teaching Certificate copy

    • If from Alabama, we can get it from the online system.

    • If your certificate is from another state, please upload this document in your online application (additional or supporting documents).

    • Your certificate should be a permanent, professional certificate (i.e., not temporary or emergency).

Masters Degree (M.S.) Applicants

  • Specific Programs may have additional requirements. Once you’ve applied, these will be requested.

Education Specialist Degree (ED.S.) Applicants

  • Valid Teaching Certificate copy

    • If from Alabama, we can get it from the online system.

    • If your certificate is from another state, please upload this document in your online application (additional or supporting documents).

    • Your certificate should indicate that it is a master’s level certificate.

Doctoral Degree (PH.D.) Applicants

  • Specific Programs have additional requirements. Once you’ve applied, these will be requested. These may include academic writing samples, examples demonstrating excellent teaching, a letter of introduction, etc.
