Degree Overview

Coursework - 91 hrs

Our Ph.D. program is extremely flexible.  You and your advisor work together to determine the best set of courses for you to take.  Most students end up distributing their coursework as follows:

  • Core Courses - 48 hours

  • Foundations Courses - 6 hours

  • Research Courses - 15 hours

  • Doctoral Seminar - 6 hours

  • Elective Courses - 6 hours

  • Dissertation - 10 hours

  • Transfer Work - up to 30 hours

    • Up to 30 hours of transfer work (usually from a Master’s degree) can be applied to this section.  Alternatively, you can take more elective hours for this section.
