Short Bio
Dr. Sarah Flint is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Counselor Education department with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and she serves as the Practicum and Internship Coordinator for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Dr. Flint enjoys teaching across the counselor education curriculum, especially clinical courses like Crisis Counseling, the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty courses, and Practicum and Internship where she brings real-world experience into the classroom. Dr. Flint's research focuses on vicarious trauma, resilience, burnout, and counselor self-efficacy in crisis work. As a certified ASIST trainer, Dr. Flint provides suicide intervention training to students, professionals, and community members. She is also active in service and regularly presents at regional and national conferences on topics related to trauma-informed care, counselor development, and counselor wellness.
Professional Experience
Dr. Flint earned her B.A. in Psychology from Southwestern University and completed both her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Auburn University, along with a Graduate Certificate in Program Evaluation. She has been teaching in the Counselor Education department since 2019, serving as an Adjunct Professor, as a Visiting Assistant Professor, and now as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Flint is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), nationally certificated in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a Registered ASIST-Certified Trainer, and a Board-Certified Tele-Mental Health (BC-TMH) Counselor.
