Short Bio
Dr. Leslie Cordie is an Associate Professor in the Adult Education programs within the Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology at Auburn University. Her interdisciplinary and collaborative research involves a variety of areas including faculty and professional learning, curriculum and instructional design, and learning technologies. Dr. Cordie has taught many of the courses in the Adult Education graduate programs and the Training and Workforce Development undergraduate minor. She loves working with adults and teaching in hybrid and online learning environments. Her passion is connecting with learners across the world.
Professional & Educational Experience
Dr. Cordie earned her doctorate in Adult Education and Technical Communication from Colorado State University, which included an emphasis on Distance Learning, adult learning theory, and instructional design and curriculum development. She also has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and has experience working with the airlines and the military in quality and performance improvement. She began her career as a community health nurse. Dr. Cordie was a Fulbright Core Scholar (2020-21) where she conducted research and taught in the West Indies. She is currently the lead US collaborator for Research Network #3 for the ASEM Lifelong Learning Hub (see asemlllhub.org), in conjunction with ACE at University College Cork. Cordie has held board positions with the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE), and editorial positions with Adult Learning Journal and the Journal of Global Education and Research. She continues to be involved with learners across the world.
