Short Bio

Dr. Susan H. Bannon is Director, Learning Resources Center, and Associate Professor, Library Media, at Auburn University. She began her career as a school librarian. After receiving her doctorate in educational media and library science at Louisiana State University and she worked for several years in library media and instructional technology programs in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Missouri.

In 1985 she accepted a faculty position in library media in the College of Education at Auburn University where she served as the graduate program coordinator of the library media and technology program. For thirty years she taught courses in school library administration, selection and evaluation of media for youth, information resources and information literacy, bibliographic organization, and library automation. She has published in College and Research Libraries and in the International Journal of School Administration.

She served as a lead scholar for preparing several editions of the Alabama State Department of Education school library guidelines and policies document. Since 1993 she has served as director of the Learning Resources Center where she provides information technology access services and facilitates the integration of instructional technology resources into the curriculum of the College of Education. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, and herb gardening.
