Short Bio
Dr. Heidi Kluess Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She is a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and has 38 published scientific papers. She is also a dog trainer, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer. Dr. Kluess and her three Standard Schnauzers participate in a number of dog sports including Obedience, Rally Obedience, Barn Hunt, Dock Jumping, and Nosework. Dr Kluess is the Director of the Human-Dog Bond with Sports and Exercise Laboratory at Auburn University and her research focuses on dog and human body condition, fitness and cognition. To date, the research is focused on dog sports participants and how that influences the health of the dogs and people.
