Our program will prepare you to teach students in grades 6-12.  Through English content courses, carefully designed English teaching methods classes, and classroom field experiences, you’ll gain what you need to be a successful teacher.

While our graduates teach English Language Arts in grades 6-12, they may also direct extracurricular activities in speech and theater and serve as sponsors of student publications. Contact us for more information!

Our M.S. non-certification program provides an interdisciplinary graduate-level education for community-based or international educators who do not wish to gain teacher certification/licensure in the United States.

Our English Language Arts education specialist program builds on your master’s degree. In this program, you will work with committed faculty who will help you develop your research skills while you also gain Class AA certification.  If you’re ready to continue your education, but not ready for the Ph.D., the Ed.S. degree is the logical choice!

Our English Language Arts Ph.D. program builds on competencies and foundations from your previous experiences and coursework.  Through coursework and independent research, we’ll prepare you to pursue your ultimate career goals.  Our graduates work in many different settings, including teaching, administration, and training.

Ph.D. programs are not part of the Auburn University approved Educator Preparation Programs. The state of Alabama does not have certification/license at this level and therefore this degree is not eligible for reciprocity in other states.
