Our master’s program in Reading Education will prepare you for the challenging work of helping struggling readers. Working with faculty who helped develop the innovative Alabama Reading Initiative program, you’ll be ready to help all readers succeed.

As a graduate of Auburn’s Reading Education M.Ed. program, you’ll be eligible to apply for Alabama Class A professional educator certification.

Our M.S. non-certification program provides an interdisciplinary graduate-level education for community-based or international educators who do not wish to gain teacher certification/licensure in the United States.

M.Ed. Degree Overview

The M.Ed. degree leads to recommendation for Class A Alabama professional educator certification.

This program is offered on campus and online.

Coursework — 30 hours

  • Teaching Field (Reading Education) — 18 hours

  • Professional courses – 6 hours

  • Internship – 6 hours

*RSED 6000/6006 Advanced Survey of Exceptionality is required if a survey of special education course was not previously completed.
