Sam receives second place in national competition

Thomandra Sam, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Special Education, Counseling/School Psychology's counselor education program, recently won second place in the National Black Graduate Student Association's
Research Paper Competition.
Her paper was entitled, "New Frontiers in Exploring the Relationship Between White Racial Identity Development and Multicultural Counseling Competencies in Mental Health Practitioners.''
Sam, who will intern at Clemson University Counseling and Psychological Services at Redfern Health Center, will graduate in summer of 2010. Her research interests include identity development of mental health practitioners, multicultural competencies, self-empowerment and social justice orientation of helping professionals.
