School psychology students participate in awareness week

November 2008

Auburn University's Student Association in School Psychology (SASP) will engage in academic and professional development activities as part of National School Psychology Awareness Week.

SASP students will staff an information table in the lobby of Haley Center on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Friday, SASP students will make presentations to undergraduate classes on the topic, "What is a School Psychologist?''

The student group is advised by Dr. Greg Ern.

The National Association of School Psychologists designated November 10-14 as National School Psychology Awareness Week. The NASP represents more than 25,500 school psychologists who work in schools, as well as other educational and health settings. During the week, schools and universities around the country will highlight the role school psychologists and school-based services have in promoting and improving student health and learning.

In conjunction with National School Psychology Awareness Week, NASP has established a national "Difference Maker on Behalf of Children'' program in order to recognize members of school communities who go to extraordinary lengths to positively affect the lives of students and their families. School psychologists are identifying and honoring administrators, teachers, parents and other educators who contribute to student success in extraordinary ways.
