Watts recognized for contributions and leadership to community
 
Dr. Ivan WattsDr. Ivan Watts has been recognized as one of the Distinguished Men of 2007 in the Lee County area by the organization Concerned Citizens for Children.  The award was given to 12 men based on their contributions in their communities in education, politics, business, government, religion and youth.  Concerned Citizens for Children, who sponsor the award, held a ceremony in honor of the men. 
 

Watts is the director of diversity, recruitment and retention for Auburn University's College of Education.   He is also an associate professor for the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology, where his teaching focus has been in social foundations.  Watts' believes in teaching for social justice with the attempt to expose students to a plethora of material that will expand their knowledge base, which will increase their involvement in social change.
