HHP changes its name to Kinesiology
KINE Poster

The Department of Health and Human Performance has changed its name to the Department of Kinesiology.  Kinesiology, the scientific study of human movement, encompasses the mission of the department.

"Everything we do in teaching, research and public service is directed toward intervening in the lives of those with whom we interact to enhance health or performance.  Kinesiology is broad in scope and represents all areas of instruction within the department and therefore more accurately describes our activities," said acting department head Mary Rudisill.

Presently there are approximately 500 undergraduate majors (306 - exercise science majors, 104 health promotion majors, and 76 physical education majors) enrolled in the department. There are approximately 60 graduate students enrolled in Kinesiology programs, with a similar percentage of students enrolled in the exercise science, health promotion and physical education as the undergraduate program areas.
