| COST Conference hosted at AU
Auburn University, March 27-29, 2003
The Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST) held its annual meeting at Auburn University March 27-29. COST is of a group of colleges and universities from across the United States and throughout most of the world that are committed to providing opportunities for quality student teaching placement and supervision in a setting that is outside of the United States. Since Auburn University became a member of COST, Auburn interns have completed their student teaching in locations such as Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland and the Bahamas. During the Spring Semester 2003, there is an Auburn intern completing her internship outside the U.S. in Ireland. COST has an annual meeting to discuss the current issues of the program, which include: a business report from the director, the status of current and future placements, and especially how to improve the experiences of our interns overseas. University representatives from the statewide sending sites, as well as the university representatives at the foreign receiving sites are in attendance at these meetings. In the past the meetings have been held at the University of Alabama, the University of Kentucky and Christchurch Polytechnic in New Zealand. It was a great honor for Auburn to host the 2003 COST meeting. Besides the business meetings on Friday and Saturday, some of the other activities planned for the meeting were dinner at President Walker's house, a campus tour and plenty of free time for the participants to experience the local culture of the Auburn area.
