Criteria for Undergraduate Teacher Education Programs
To be eligible to begin internship, the following criteria must be met.
  • Completion and submission of the Internship Application  PDF Icon one year in advance (include Intern Coversheet for Early Childhood and Elementary Education  PDF Icon if appropriate)
  • Admission to Teacher Education
  • Satisfactory completion of all courses on the program checklist designated as prerequisites for internship
  • Minimum 2.5 grade-point average on all college coursework attempted as well as all coursework attempted at Auburn, in professional studies, and in the teaching field
  • A grade of "C" or better in all professional studies courses
  • A passing score on the appropriate Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program's Praxis II subject assessment
  • Documentation of clear background check (students interning Fall 2007 and after)
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching with departmental approval

Students who fail to meet these criteria may submit new evidence in an effort to satisfy admission to internship requirements.

 
Criteria for Alternative Master's Certification Programs

To be eligible to begin internship, the following criteria must be met.

  • Completion and submission of the Internship Application PDF Icon two semesters in advance
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on all coursework carrying graduate credit
  • Grade of "C" or better on all coursework carrying graduate credit
  • A passing score on each of the Basic Skills Assessments (Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Writing), the first component of the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program (APTTP)
  • A passing score on the appropriate Praxis II subject assessment, the second component of the APTTP
  • Documentation of clear background check (students interning Fall 2007 and after)
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching with departmental approval
