National Advisory Council Mini-grants

About the Mini-Grants

As part of its support of our college, National Advisory Council members personally fund research and outreach efforts by our faculty.  The objective of this program is to encourage and facilitate college faculty in creating or enhancing meaningful research and outreach.

With 100 percent participation in committing to financially supporting a group project, the National Advisory Council established the Mini-Grants for Partnerships in 2000 and award its first grant in 2001.

Funding Amounts and Selection Process

Funding for the mini-grants program has been provided through personal gifts by council members.  Grants typically range to a maximum of $2,000; however, specific amounts depend on the funding interests and quantity of applications received.  These grants may serve as "seed money" to be combined with other funding sources.

Proposals will be reviewed by a committee of NAC members.  The committee will present three to five proposals that support the college's strategic plan for consideration by the full council at its spring meeting.  Those faculty members receiving funding will be notified following the meeting.

Project Reporting

Faculty mini-grant recipients will be asked to provide a report to the council, which may include an in-person presentation, on the use of the mini-grant funds.

Application and Deadlines

All College of Education faculty members are invited and encouraged to submit proposals.  Proposal guidelines are attached.  Packets must be submitted in their entirety (including all appropriate signatures) and according to the submission guidelines.  Requests for proposals will be distributed prior to or at the start of the spring semester, and will be due by Jan. 31.  Applications are reviewed at the spring council meeting, and awards made available by the start of the following fall semester.
