The Ph.D. in Counselor Education is a 61 (+48 masters) credit program of study accredited by CACREP. This is a post Master's degree program and total credit hours may be higher for students who do not meet the entry level degree requirements. Graduates typically are employed in Counselor Education, Mental Health, and School Counseling positions. Students complete practica in areas of advanced counseling, teaching and supervision. Students also complete an internship that incorporates programmatic and student professional goals. It is preferable that applicants have a Master's degree in counseling. Program requirements include dissertation and portfolio.
