Welcome to the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, Counseling/School Psychology

Dedicated to excellence in instruction, research, and outreach
Through a combination of coursework and closely supervised clinical experiences our graduate programs in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, and School Psychology help students develop the tools they need to address psychological, social and environmental barriers to educational achievement and personal development.
Our Special Education programs prepare students to serve individuals with special needs and disabilities as special education teachers. Students acquire skills necessary to work with children of all ages with mental retardation, learning disabilities and behavior disorders.
In the Rehabilitation programs, students are prepared to serve people with disabilities at the postschool age level through a number of potential career pursuits including vocational evaluation and adjustment, case management, and rehabilitation counseling.
The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, Counseling/School Psychology (SERC) is the product of the 2008 merger of two departments. While content from former websites are merged, we invite you to learn more about our department's academic programs, research and outreach, and faculty and staff through each former department site:
