| Physical Education Teacher Education The mission of the Physical Education Teacher Education program is to produce teachers with the capacity to create curriculum and instruction practices that help children achieve an active lifestyle which will continue in and throughout adulthood. To fulfill this mission, the program provides students with a thorough knowledge base about exercise, physical activity, and instruction, provides significant clinical experiences, develops reflective teachers, and utilizes the most up-to-date methods for assessing teaching ability and skills.
At the master's level we are interested in developing "master teachers." In this program, students will learn how to collect and analyze data about teaching and learning with the expectation that they will be able to put these skills into practice in their own instructional settings, or use these as a foundation for doctoral studies.
For students without an undergraduate degree in teacher certification, we do offer an Alternative-Masters program that will lead to Alabama Class A certiifcation.
The Pedagogy Research Group now has a web page that outlines our research team and our programs. Please check it out.
It is important to note that the PETE program endorses and follows the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics
