Students are not officially accepted to Physical Education Teacher Education until Fall semester of their Junior year after successfully meeting several admittance requirements (2.5 5-way GPA, Pre-teaching completion, AL Prospective Teacher Test, Interview/Presentation to faculty resulting in receipt of an acceptance letter, etc) If a student is not accepted, he/she will have to reapply the following year for the Teacher Education program. Students should have most, if not all, core requirements completed by that time.
Once accepted to the program, students belong to a cohort, completing classes in a specified order. Classes are offered one time a year only. If a class is not taken or not passed when it is offered, it must be re-taken the following year. Students must make a grade of "C" or better in Professional Studies courses. Cohort classes must be completed prior to the Internship. Ideally, you would want all classes (core requirements) to be complete prior to the Internship.
