Graduate Study
 
The Department of Kinesiology has several degree options in both the Master's and Doctoral programs. Specialized areas of study include Biomechanics, Teaching and Research in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Motor Development, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Motor Learning and Control, and Health Promotion. Advanced Teaching Certification through an NCATE approved program is available for students who hold undergraduate teaching certification. Your application, GRE (verbal, quantitative, & written) scores & transcripts to the graduate program should be sent directly to the Graduate School. You can apply by U.S. mail or electronically via the Graduate School web-site: www.grad.auburn.edu  When applying electronically, you will be asked to include a letter of intent that describes your goals, your professional experiences, and the specific area(s) of interest for your professional study. If you are applying via U.S. mail, you will need to include this letter of intent in your application. Also, request three people to write letters of recommendation and send them directly to the Kinesiology Graduate Program Officer via U.S. mail or e-mail.
 
Research and teaching assistantships are available. Most assistantships are teaching assignments in the physical education service program, with other assignments also available in K-12 education, corporate fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, and specific research projects. The majority of the assistantships provide a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. If you are interested in applying for an assistantship, please complete the  teaching assistantship form when completing your on-line graduate application as soon as possible so that we may have your application on file. FEBRUARY 1 st is the deadline for assistantship applications for the upcoming (2007) academic year. In order to be eligible for consideration for an assistantship, all graduate school admission application materials and the assistantship application must be complete.
