Learning Environment

Students studying library media and technology take courses with masters and doctoral students from many fields of education and participate in a lively climate of intellectual interchange in discovering and testing new theories of teaching and learning and exchanging information on best practices. The facilities and resources in the College of Education Learning Resources Center and the Ralph Brown Draughon Library provide opportunities to work with new technologies and a wide range of current electronic and print resources. The University Library's juvenile collection is one of the best in the United States.

Students in the master's and add-on certification program complete a 300-clock hour internship K-12 schools under the supervision of a certificed library media specialist. Specialist degree students complete a directed field experience.

The School Library Media Program curriculum is being redesigned to offer a distance education option for the master's degree, the add-on A-level certification, and the educational specialist degree.
