Fingerprinting Requirement
 
The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) requires documentation of a clear background check through fingerprinting for all graduate students in the library media certification programs upon enrollment in course work.
 
The Professional Education Services office in the College of Education can verify through ALSDE records a clear background check for most graduate students who are currently employed by an Alabama school system. Graduate students enrolled in distance education programs and currently teaching in another state may be exempt from this requirement.
