Add-on Library Media Certification
 
ADD-ON CERTIFICATION
LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST (MSE)
 
The add-on library media certification program is for the professional educator who has A-level certification in a teaching field and who may, upon completion of an approved program of study, receive an additional A-level certification as a library media specialist.

A minimum of 21 semester hours of coursework in library media may be required. An internship experience totaling 300 clock hours in K-12 settings under the direction of a certified school library media specialist is required. Passing a comprehensive final examination and passing the Praxis II for library media are  also required.

Those seeking full admission to this graduate program must have the following:

  • A Master's degree in a teaching field from an accredited college or university and

  • Teacher certification at A-level (or its equivalent)

An evaluation of your master's degree transcript(s) will be conducted to determine if you have taken courses equivalent to the courses on the Class A Checklist of Library Media Certification. Equivalent courses are subject to approval by Auburn University's teacher certification officer.

  • Other Professional Education Course may be required: 

    •     **RSED 7000 Advanced Study of Exceptionalities (3)
     * Courses ending in 6 are offered as distance education courses.
    ** This course only required if a course in special education was not completed for teacher certification.
