Educational Research Methodology and Analysis

EduResearchMethods 12.07

The Educational Psychology program (EPSY) and the Educational Research Methodology and Analysis program (ERMA) collaborate to offer a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.  Doctoral students can specialize through designing a plan of study that emphasizes learning/instruction,  research/evaluation or a combination.  This degree prepares graduates for teaching and/or research careers in a variety of educational, developmental, and instructional setting, including colleges and universities, state and federal agencies, school systems, business and industry, and private research organizations.   Students who specialize in research and evaluation can gain practical experience through internships and projects in which the ERMA faculty are engaged.

Additionally, the ERMA faculty is a distinguished and highly qualified team of researchers and analysts who offer students of nearly every degree program within the College the essential coursework in research methodology.  Last year the ERMA faculty served on over 100 dissertation committees throughout the University.

This program will have to meet a rapidly increasing demand from its clients for more effective ways to examine the educational practice and make improvements based on data.  In order to do that the ERMA Team is planning the creation of a new Center for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE).  CARE will bring together the individual efforts of members of the Team in research and evaluation and partner with school districts and state and federal agencies to conduct program evaluation and applied research.
