Application Steps
SEND TO AU GRADUATE SCHOOL:
Complete and submit a Graduate School application available at www.grad.auburn.edu or by contacting the Graduate School, Hargis Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849 - 334-844-4700 phone. The application will include the following:
a. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for Adult Education, Higher Education, and Educational Psychology programs. GRE or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores for the Educational Leadership and Educational Media programs. The AU Code is #1005 and here is nearby GRE testing site information. GRE or MAT scores are not required for certification-only applications. To be competitive, GRE scores (old / new test scores) are 400 / 146 Verbal, 400 / 140 Quantitative, and a Competent rating (3.5 or higher) on the writing section. To be competitive, MAT scores are 387 Verbal and 369 Quantitative.
b. Official transcript(s) of all previous college and/or university work.

a. Submit a Statement of Intent (300-500 words) indicating your professional interests and goals. It can include: current goals for your professional career, reason for selecting your major field of study, type of position(s) you expect to seek when you complete the program of study covered by this application, your philosophy of education, professional issues of most concern or interest to you at this time, and/or areas of research interests. The Statement of Intent can also be uploaded to the AU Graduate School online application.
b. Submit three recommendations—either letters or EFLT Graduate Study recommendation forms are acceptable. The form is available through this link: Recommendation for Graduate Study.
New! In addition to the required recommendations, applicants to the Adult Education and Higher Education programs are strongly encouraged (but not required) to ask the same three individuals to complete the Personal Potential Index (PPI) and have a report of these PPI ratings sent to the Graduate School. The PPI is a new evaluative tool administered by the ETS (Educational Testing Service) organization. The Adult and Higher Education programs have been selected to participate in a research study intended to help the university better understand predictors of graduate student success. If you registered for the GRE on or after May 1, 2009, or have registered to take the GRE, you can send up to four evaluation reports free as part of your test fee. Please enter your name exactly as it appears in your registration. You can create an ETS PPI account and review the ETS PPI Information Bulletin, which explains the service, at create an ETS PPI applicant account.

If I am admitted, when can I begin taking classes? Applications that are approved by the Graduate School may be begin study any semester after admission is granted. Once admitted you will receive a letter from the Dean of the Graduate School containing your AU Student ID (Banner ID) and username. Before you will be permitted to register, you will also need to submit a completed Medical Form to the Auburn University Medical Clinic.
