| Ph.D. Reading Education Statement of Purpose
The doctoral program in Reading Education provides students with focused study in their area of specialization appropriate to an advanced graduate degree. Students' programs are supported by coursework and by faculty advisory committees. Advisory committees work with doctoral students to develop plans of study appropriate to the career goals of the students. A significant portion of the doctoral degree is devoted to learning how to conduct and interpret research within the individual student's discipline. The doctoral program is designed for professionals who wish to enhance their competency within their specialization and to prepare for leadership roles in teaching or teaching-related careers and in higher education.
