The Doctor of Philosophy degree program builds upon the bachelor's and master's degree programs of students within Elementary Education. The purpose of the social constructivist-based program is to further strengthen professional educators' abilities and competencies for researching and teaching in elementary grades K - 6 and non-school settings. Graduates complete course work which will update their knowledge and skills in research, teaching, educational psychology, curriculum development, evaluation of teaching and learning, and foundations of education. Graduates are also required to complete a dissertation.
