The Early Childhood Education Doctoral program is devised to prepare students to be university and college faculty, school and curriculum supervisors, researchers, extension specialists and leaders wherever issues of young children's education might arise. The focus of the program is research specialization in constructivist theory and practice and the application of this research to practical problems in the education of young children. To this end students will prepare in areas of general constructivist theory, curriculum construction, research and research design with special emphasis on techniques particular to constructivist theory and curriculum, and specialize in a particular component of constructivist theory which might later be applied to problems in traditional domains found in schools and school-like settings.
