Ed.S. Foreign Language Education

Statement of Purpose

The Specialist in Education degree program builds on the bachelor's and master's degree programs of students in Foreign Language Education, Spanish or French.  The purpose of the Specialist in Education program is to further strengthen professional educator's abilities and competencies as leaders and teachers in secondary, postsecondary, and non-school settings.  The program is designed for students to attain their post-master's (Class AA) teacher certification in Spanish.  French teachers receive the Ed.S. degree without Class AA certification. Graduate course work for the Ed.S. degree will improve knowledge and skills in research-based best practices and assessments as well as target language proficiency.  The Action Research component requires students to complete a field project that addresses a practical problem they have encountered in their own classroom experiences.
