| B.S. Early Childhood Education Statement of Purpose
The undergraduate program in Early Childhood Education is intended to prepare teachers who work with the philosophy that knowledge construction is a biological process that advances as individuals reflect on their mental activity. Students learn to develop means to solve problems and to reflect upon and evaluate the means chosen. To this end we create conditions by which pre-service teachers construct and extend their knowledge about: how children learn; the knowledge to be learned; the techniques that facilitate that learning; and way to be advocates for young children. Our graduates are able to make autonomous instructional decisions based on knowledge, after giving consideration to all points of view. General Program Information
