Wallace SP 09Carolyn Wallace, associate professor of secondary science education, joined the college's Department of Curriculum and Teaching in January 2009. Her research interests include science teacher beliefs and practices, science curriculum, writing in science and the role of metacognition in science learning. Wallace's primary outreach and civic engagement interest is working with graduate students in after-school programs. Before coming to Auburn, Wallace served for two years as a senior lecturer at the University of Stirling in Scotland. She participated in the Communication and Interaction research cluster in the university's Institute of Education. Wallace also served as an associate professor at the University of Georgia and as an assistant professor at Georgia State University. In addition to being sole or first author of more than 25 articles that have appeared in national or international refereed journals, Wallace co-authored the book, "Writing and learning in the science classroom'' in 2004. She served on the editorial board of Journal of Research in Science Teaching from 1998-2002. Wallace earned her doctorate at the University of Michigan, her master's at Arizona State University and her bachelor's degree at the University of California, Irvine.
