Department of Curriculum and Teaching Auburn University, AL 36849 (334) 844-6995 FAX (334) 844-6789 Dr. Brian Parr joined the Department of Curriculum and Teaching in Fall 2008 as an assistant professor of agricultural education. Before coming to Auburn, Parr served on the faculty at Murray State University (Ken.) and at the University of Georgia. He also worked for five years as a public school teacher in Tennessee, teaching agricultural education and advising a FFA chapter. Parr earned his doctorate from Oklahoma State University and his master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Tennessee. Parr's teaching interests include methods of teaching, research methodology and statistics, supervision of student organizations and agricultural fabrication and construction, while his research focuses on the exploration of how agricultural education may serve as the context for the teaching and learning of other subject matter, such as mathematics, science and reading. Parr worked in two former Soviet republics (Georgia and Armenia) in an effort to establish agricultural education in the secondary school system and common intellectual currency in post-secondary education.
