| Dr. Lisa Kasmer Assistant Professor of Elementary Education
Department of Curriculum and Teaching Auburn University, AL 36849 (334) 844-3768 FAX (334) 844-6789 Lisa Kasmer joined the College of Education faculty in August 2008 as an assistant professor in mathematics education after serving as a mathematics teacher and K-12 mathematics department chair in Portage, Mich. She earned her doctorate from Western Michigan University as a doctoral fellow for the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum. While there, Kasmer worked on National Science Foundation-funded research projects, which included analysis of state and national mathematics curriculum documents, exploration of the role of mathematical knowledge for teaching, a mathematics curriculum adoption study and the development of a Web-based instrument database. Kasmer, whose background includes 31 years of classroom and professional development experience and mathematics education research, is focused on research that gains insight into the challenges of teaching mathematics for conceptual understanding.Academic Degrees
