School Psychology (CSP) - Ed.S. Degree

The Ed.S. degree program in School Psychology consists of approximately 84 credit hours of full or part time study and is approved by the Alabama State Department of Education (SDE). The program is inclusive of 45 credit hours of master's level work. Graduates typically are employed in public and private school settings, however are qualified to work in a variety of other educational and health care settings. Students complete several practica and a formal, supervised internship in settings related to their career goals. The program will consider applicants with undergraduate degrees in education, psychology, child development, and related fields. Coursework will prepare you for the academic component for certification as a school psychologist. Because certification requirements differ from state to state, and also change periodically, applicants are advised to check certification requirements for the state(s) in which they expect to seek employment. Graduates of the program are also eligible to apply for National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP). All program objectives, curricula, and field-based experiences are designed to be in alignment with the standards and guidelines provided by the National Association of School Psychologists.
