Student Honors & Awards - 2007

Michelle Breland (CCA) was awarded third place in the Humanities category for her presentation at the 2007 Auburn University Graduate Student Council Research Forum: Community pharmacies readiness to provide in-house and outsourced immunization delivery services.
  
David Brown (CED) was awarded a CSI Fellowship for the 2007-2008 school year.  He was also a member of an advocacy project which was selected as a CSI Advocacy Poster Nominee for the 2007 ACA Convention.
  
Cheryl Bynum (CPS) and her family have been chosen as one of five families to receive the 2007 Family of the Year Award, which is awarded by Family Guidance Center of Alabama and Montgomery Television Channel 12/WFSA.
  
Erin Doolin (CCA) was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Master's Student award by the Iota Delta Sigma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
  
LaWanda Edwards (CED) was elected as a Member-At-Large for the Alabama Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
  
Stephanie Graham (COP) received a Who's Who Among American College Students award.  Stephanie was also named one of Ten Outstanding Doctoral Students at Auburn University for the 2006-2007 school year.
  
Gabrielle Hargrove (CCA) was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Service to Chapter award by the Iota Delta Sigma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.  Gabrielle also participated with a research team at Emory University that published a manuscript about coping methods for African-American women who have been abused.  Gabrielle has been accepted for doctoral study in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kentucky for Fall 2007.
  
Amney Harper (CED) was awarded the ACES Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award for her outstanding scholarship and professional service.
  
Vincent Hinton (CED) was elected as a Member-At-Large for the Alabama Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
 
Michael Keim (CED) was a member of the Iota Delta Sigma advocacy project concerning the families of deployed military personnel.  This project was selected as a nominee for the CSI Advocacy Poster presentation at the 2007 ACA Convention.  Michael was also selected as a Fellow to participate in the 2007-2008 Auburn University Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Initiative: Preparing Future Faculty Program.
 
Donna Lee (CSP), a doctoral student in School Psychology, recently presented at the 2007 Pediatric Sleep Medicine Conference held at Amelia Island, Florida on March 16-19: Sleep education for six 2nd grade children with parent-reported sleep problems: A multiple baseline study.
  
Lisa Lively (COP) was selected as a Fellow to participate in the 2007-2008 Auburn University Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Initiative: Preparing Future Faculty Program.
  
Ambrin Masood (CSP), a doctoral student from Pakistan, was named the 2007 College of Education Outstanding International Graduate Student award.  Ambrin will be honored at a dinner attended by outstanding international graduate students from across the University.
  
Andrea Owens (CED) was awarded the 2007 Department of Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, and School Psychology Outstanding Graduate Student Award by the Auburn University College of Education.  Andrea will be honored at the Annual College of Education Spring Awards Ceremony on March 19.  Andrea is also a member of an advocacy project for deployed military personnel, which is a nominee for the CSI Advocacy Poster presentation at the 2007 ACA Convention in Detroit, Michigan.  Andrea was also awarded the 2007 Outstanding Leadership award by the Iota Delta Sigma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
 
Mark Parrish (CED) was named a CSI Fellow for the 2007-2008 school year.
 
Sherri Ranier (CPS) was awarded the 2007 ALCA Chapter VII Outstanding School Counseling Graduate Student award.
 
Maria Rogers (CED) has been elected Secretary of the Alabama Association of Counselor Education and Supervision for 2007-2008.
  
Amy Simpson (COP) is a member of an advocacy project for deployed military personnel, which is a nominee for the CSI Advocacy Poster presentation at the 2007 ACA Convention.  Amy has also been awarded the ASPPB's Larry J. Bass Memorial Scholarship Award for a research study with which she is currently involved.
  
Yulanda Tyre (CED) has been named President-Elect for Chapter VII of the Alabama Counseling Association, effective Fall 2007.
 
Nikki Vasilas (CED) is a member of an Iota Delta Sigma advocacy project concerning the issues faced by families of deployed military personnel.  This advocacy project is a nominee for the CSI Advocacy Poster presentation at the 2007 ACA Convention.
  
Dayna Watson (CCA) was awarded the 2007 ALCA Chapter VII Outstanding School Counseling Graduate Student award.
  
Student Honors & Awards - 2006

Cheryl Bynum (CPS), who is pursuing a master's degree in School Counseling, was awarded the most prestigious award by the Alabama Rehabilitation Association at their Golden Anniversary Conference on September 14-15.  Cheryl was presented with the VEWAA Dr. Robert H. Couch Award for Outstanding Professionalism.  Cheryl is employed at Dadeville High School as a secondary school counselor.
  
Erin Doolin (CCA) was awarded the JoAnn Granberry Murrell Scholarship by the Auburn University College of Education for the 2006-2007 school year.
 
LaWanda Edwards (CED) was named a 2006 ALACES Emerging Leader.
 
Vincent Hinton (CED) received numerous awards from the Alabama Counseling Association at the 2006 ALCA Conference.  He was named an Emerging Leader, received a Research Grant Award, as well as the Miles-Seymour Graduate Scholarship.
 
Kate Jackson (CED), a counselor education doctoral candidate, received the 2006 Wayne H. Hunter Patient Advocacy Award from the National Sickle Cell Association.
 
Yulanda Tyre (CED), a doctoral student in Counselor Education, received two awards at the 2006 ALCA Conference in Mobile, Alabama: the ALCA Research Grant of $500 to support her research entitiled Problems and needs of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GBLT) students at historically black colleges (HBCU), as well as the ALACES Counselor Educator Doctoral Scholarship.
