Welcome from Dean Frances Kochan

Dean Kochan and Aubie

Dear Colleagues, Students, Alumni and Friends:

For more than nine decades, our College of Education has shown a commitment to building better futures for all. The role of education continues to change as we prepare students to live in and contribute to today's global society.

The mission of the College of Education is to build a better future for individuals, our state, our nation and our world. Our college's graphic identity—the keystone—captures the essence of our mission. As the topmost stone of an arch, the keystone serves a central role in supporting and holding the arch together. We believe this is a perfect symbol of the function education plays in a democratic society.

As you will see throughout this Web site, our College of Education is a leader in all aspects of preparing competent, committed and reflective professionals—as outlined in our Conceptual Framework. While many of our graduates go on to esteemed careers as classroom-based educators, many others have made significant contributions as educational administrators, business professionals, medical personnel and government leaders.

We thank you for visiting our Web site and for having an interest in our college. We are proud of our past and our present, and we look forward to building a better future for all.

Sincerely,

Fran
