Dagley earns Lifetime Mentoring Award

June 2009

In honor of his commitment to helping students over the course of his career, Dr. John Dagley will be honored by the American Psychological Association's link to external web site Society of Counseling Psychology (Division 17) at its national convention.

Dagley, an associate professor of counseling psychology in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, Counseling/School Psychology, will receive the Lifetime Mentoring Award during the organization's meeting in Toronto August 6-9.

"It is an award that is richly deserved - one that has been earned by Dr. Dagley's supportive attitude, commitment, and behavior toward students across many years,'' said Dr. Randolph Pipes, professor and director of training for counseling psychology.

The Society of Counseling Psychology  link to external web site, or Division 17 as it's also known, brings together psychologists, students and affiliates dedicated to the promotion of education, scientific investigation, training, practice, diversity and public interest in professional psychology.

The organization's Lifetime Mentoring Award acknowledges career contributions to counseling psychology through mentorship in science, practice, leadership, administration, teaching and training.

Dagley joined the College of Education's faculty in 2003 after previously working at the State University of New York at Buffalo, the University of Georgia and Boston University. Dagley earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri in 1972.
